McGuire and Hester is a construction company that provides complete site work services: pipelines, grading paving, concrete, landscape, mechanical, and concrete pumping through affiliate, CF&T Concrete Pumping. In addition to traditional project delivery methods, we are involved with design build projects and alternative delivery methods. Job Summary

The Concrete Boom and Line Truck Operator uses concrete pumps to control the output of concrete on construction sites by directing the boom and/or line. This person also keeps pumps well maintained and in good/safe working order

Division Manager, Sales Manager, Administrative Assistants, Dispatchers, Mechanics, Resource Staff, and Safety Personnel

Typical Duties

  • Drive the pump in a safe and conscious manner to the jobsite and back to the yard.
  • Operate the pump in a safe and conscious manner, set-up system and clean out the pump after the job.
  • Perform basic pump maintenance and know pump well enough to recognize problems and report them.
  • Represent the Company through efficient work and courteous service.
  • Keep the pump and truck washed and free of concrete and grease. Keep the system free of concrete.
  • Return unit after use to the appropriate location in the yard.
  • Complete and submit inspection forms, job tickets and maintenance forms. Keep and accurate timecard of time worked.
  • Perform general physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs, and moving body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stopping, and handling materials
  • Installing positioning materials and manipulating materials
  • Use either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes
  • Monitor and review information from materials, events, or the environment to detect and assess problems
  • Adjust and test machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily based on mechanical principles
  • Determine when equipment and tools are not functioning properly and need replacement or repair
  • Balance teamwork and individual responsibilities, exhibit openness to other views, and contribute to building a positive team spirit
  • Think Safety First and participate in “Safety Buck” program
  • Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, and carry objects
  • Frequently lifts, pushes, pulls, or carry up to 50 pounds of weight during a workday. Occasionally lifts or carries up to 75 pounds at an overhead position
  • Must be able to safely drive assigned company truck to multiple jobsites throughout the day
  • Must meet DOT requirements for hearing and driving compliance
  • Must maintain Pump Operator Certification with the American Concrete Pumpers Association (ACPA)

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Previous training and/or the equivalent experience operating a concrete pump. Comprehends the operation of a concrete pump as well as some basic mechanics that may be involved to keep the pump in working condition

Language Skills: Must be able to read and write in English; Bilingual in Spanish is helpful

Mathematical Skills: No skills required

Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Must have good customer relation skills and the ability to problem solve under pressure

Computer Skills: Must be competent and comfortable with regular data entry into pumper software on tablet or smartphone

Interpersonal Skills: must be able to communicate with a variety of customer and co-workers

Certificates, Licenses, and Registration: ACPA Certification and a commercial CDL desired

Compensation:

$64 - $97 per hour, based on skills, experience, knowledge, and dispatched assignment
